How to delete your account and data

Deleting your account

You may delete your Grains account at any time. When you delete your account, all of your personal data and photographs are permanently removed.

How to request deletion

There are two ways to delete your account and data:

From the app

Open the Grains app, go to Settings, and select “Delete Account.” You will be asked to confirm. Once confirmed, the deletion process begins immediately.

By email

Send an email to privacy@grainsapp.com from the email address associated with your account. Include “Delete my account” in the subject line. We will verify your identity and process the request within 5 business days.

What is deleted

  • Your account profile and credentials
  • All photographs you have uploaded
  • All encryption keys associated with your account
  • Your Circle memberships and shared photographs
  • Your Memory Room contributions
  • Payment records (Stripe retains transaction records per their own policies)

What is retained

Cryptographic provenance records on the public C2PA verification ledger are retained. These records contain no personal information — they attest only that a photograph with a given hash existed at a given time. They cannot be used to identify you or reconstruct your photographs.

Timeline

Once a deletion request is confirmed, all personal data and photographs are removed from our active systems within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days.

Facebook and third-party sign-in

If you signed in to Grains using Facebook, Apple, or Google, deleting your Grains account does not affect your account with those services. To revoke the connection from their side, visit the linked apps settings in the respective service.
